The Company

Birnie Consultancy is a solutions-driven consultancy working with primary and secondary food processors, farmers, supermarkets, levy bodies, research institutions, and governments across the UK and Europe.

We design and manage commercial and research projects, write and implement strategies, deliver in-depth technical analysis and reporting, manage farmer groups, deliver knowledge exchange, manage funding applications as well as deliver design expertise around the presentation and communication of information.

Due to continued expansion, we are currently looking for a Senior Consultant to join our team.

 

Job Description

The Consultant will be responsible for working with the team to deliver projects for multiple stakeholders on wide-ranging subjects within the Agri-Food industry. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and solutions-focused, have experience within the sector, and will have no problems working in a target-based environment. In return, you will receive an attractive compensation package along with flexible working arrangements.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Manage and deliver a varied portfolio of projects which will include but not limited to;

o   Qualitative evidence gathering

o   Strategic writing

o   Academic literature reviews

o   Technical report writing

·         Liaising with clients and stakeholders to carry out the work of any given project

·         Supporting the work of the other consultants in project delivery

·         Represent Birnie Consultancy at a range of events

·         Manage and lead a delivery team on any given project

·         Support business development activities including tendering and networking

 

Essential criteria:

·         Master's degree in agriculture, environmental science, or related fields

·         A demonstrable understanding of the Agri-Food and Business Sectors

·         Proven experience in creating academic literature, scientific reports, and Technical writing

·         Proven project management experience

·         Proven experience in managing and leading a team

·         Strong communication skills

·         Ability to manage clients and stakeholders

·         Evidence of previous problem solving and strategic planning

·         Excellent organizational skills

Desired criteria

·         PhD in a related field

·         Network of contacts within the sector

·         Relevant project management qualifications

·         Previous experience of creating predictive/impact models
