Known for many things, including driving the snakes out of Ireland it’s not often that people remember that St. Patrick was also a sheep farmer. It may not have been his first choice of profession, as he was captured by Irish pirates at the time, but he also stated in his confessional that this time was pivotal to his later adventures, and is something that he would like to get back into.

As best practice has changed since Patrick last grazed sheep on the emerald isle, he has engaged Birnie Consultancy to conduct a review into current shepherding practices, land management techniques and setting up a supply chain around his lands in Downpatrick.

This will involve the first-hand knowledge of Managing Director Dr. Jonathan Birnie and Senior Consultant Dr. Ryan Law who have extensive experience in this area, supported by Business Development Manager Owen Lucas, who will manage the project.

As Patrick wants to market his lamb directly to the retailer, Communication & Digital Manager Ashley Hassin will be developing a marketing plan for the new enterprise, as well as designing labels, point of sale displays, business stationery and working with a web developer to drive online sales.

Speaking after appointment, Patrick said he couldn’t have been happier to be working with Birnie Consultancy on this project.

“I was amazed that I could find all the skills I needed to develop my enterprise under one roof. I’m looking forward to getting started!'“

As they will working on this project, Birnie Consultancy would like to inform their customers that they will be unavailable on Wednesday 17th of March, which also happens to be St. Patrick’s Day!
